What We're Working Towards

This website targets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standard — the internationally recognised benchmark for web accessibility. Accessible design benefits everyone: users of assistive technologies, mobile users, older persons, and those in low-connectivity environments.

Targeting WCAG 2.2 Level AA

We are actively working to meet this standard across all pages on azrainalaman.com. Where gaps exist, they are documented below with planned fixes.

Accessibility Features Implemented

Keyboard Navigation

All interactive elements are reachable and operable via keyboard without requiring a mouse.

Visible Focus Indicators

An orange outline (3px, #f97316) appears on all focused elements for keyboard and switch-access users.

A "Skip to main content" link appears on every page, allowing screen reader and keyboard users to bypass navigation.

Alt Text on All Images

Every image has a meaningful text alternative for screen reader users and when images fail to load.

Semantic HTML Structure

Pages use proper heading hierarchy (H1–H3), landmark regions, and ARIA labels on interactive elements.

Mobile Accessible

All pages are responsive, with no horizontal scroll, large touch targets, and a full-screen mobile navigation menu.

Language Declaration

HTML lang attribute is set on every page — en for English pages, ms for Bahasa Malaysia articles.

Breadcrumb Navigation

All article and inner pages include breadcrumb trails so users always know where they are within the site.

What We're Still Improving

No website is perfectly accessible. Below are known gaps we are aware of, their severity, and our planned approach.

LOW

Some hover effects use inline JavaScript

Certain button hover effects on older pages use onmouseover attributes instead of CSS. These are visual-only and do not block keyboard or screen reader access, but will be migrated to CSS in the next update cycle.

LOW

Brand accent colour contrast on small text

The brand orange (#f97316) on white achieves a contrast ratio of ~3.07:1, which passes for large/bold text (≥18pt or ≥14pt bold) but falls below the 4.5:1 requirement for small body text. We do not use orange for small body text — only for headings, badges, and UI elements where the large-text threshold applies.

NOTE

No captions on embedded videos

Where YouTube videos are embedded within article content, we rely on YouTube's auto-generated captions. We recommend enabling captions manually via the YouTube player for improved accuracy.

NOTE

Interactive calculator tool — keyboard operability

The Google Ads Budget Calculator uses standard HTML form inputs and is fully keyboard-accessible. The star rating widget is also keyboard-operable via Enter/Space. No known blocking issues.
